Psalm 25 is a poetic reorientation from David, verbally processing God's amazing ability, our need to trust and be guided by God, along with a personal conversation with God, confessing our anguish and sin.
Through it all, we land on our renewed focus to trust God, submitting our life to Him as our Lord, guide, and teacher.
What is God saying to you?

Psalm 20 reminds us of both God's amazing capacity to protect us, bless us, and answer our cry for help as well as challenge us to trust in God. Our tendencies are to put our trust in anything BUT God.
Becoming like Jesus include rebuilding your preconceived broken trust tendencies into a secure trust of God.
How is that possible? Because we can trust in a loving God because He is a God who first cares for us.

In Psalm 3 David is on the run from his son, Absalom. After he flees the palace, he writes a poem speaking of the full assurance that God would deliver him. This came from a deep life with God, the One who delivered him before and he believed God would deliver him again. We are continually challenged to trust God even when things look hopeless.

Psalm 2 reveals our tendencies to fight God and His ways, resisting His way because of our desire to do it OUR way. It promised a future Messiah, Jesus, but helps illuminate the feelings we still have as we anticipate God's Kingdom.

St. Athanasius stated that "[The psalms] become like a mirror to the person singing them, so that he might perceive himself and the emotions of his soul."
Rather than simply beautifully phrased poems, the collection of Psalms was purposely designed to become that mirror to the spectrum of human emotions, drawing us toward God as we face our human fragility.
Begin with us as we look at Psalm 1, the basic challenge to choose the way of God and His teachings.

Jesus is enough.
The question is not how I can fit my life with Jesus into my culture, life, and values BUT how can the life of Jesus change my culture, life, and values to be like God’s?
